Strong schools, thriving local businesses, healthy families, and safe neighborhoods strengthen our entire nation.
With a population of more than 50 million, the well-being of Black and African American communities is part of America’s shared future. Addressing barriers to education, health, housing, and economic opportunity helps build a stronger country for everyone.
Community organizations, educators, businesses, public institutions, and neighbors all contribute to that work. Listening to local needs, sharing knowledge, and supporting practical solutions can help families and neighborhoods thrive.
Political influence.
A lasting civic legacy.
African American communities have helped shape American democracy through voting, civil rights advocacy, community organizing, and public service.
The struggle for voting rights helped bring about landmark federal legislation. For more than 150 years, Black Americans have also served in Congress, contributing to lawmaking and political representation despite persistent barriers to participation. This influence spans generations, organizations, and a wide range of political views.
